DESCRIPTION OF THE NEIGHBOURHOOD:
- Corso Garibaldi - Corso Como
Corso Garibaldi is an ancient street in Milan with many craft shops, clothing, restaurants of all kinds, for a pleasant walk towards Piazza Duomo. At the intersection with Corso Como, the clubs are even more trendy, the most fashionable discos welcome the many characters of the show that usually attend this area. Refinement, sophistication and glamour are the adjectives that best describe this part of Milan.
- Gae Aulenti
If Piazza Duomo is the historic center of Milan, Piazza Gae Aulenti represents its new face, symbol of the city that changes and looks to the future.
Convergence point of the new smart district of Porta Nuova, which extends from the station of Porta Garibaldi and Isola district, to Corso Como and Repubblica.
A circular square of about 80 meters in diameter for an area of 2,300 square meters, raised 10 meters from the road with three intermediate levels. Symbol of contemporary Milan, piazza Gae Aulenti is setting for commercials and photo shoots, music and social events. A unique destination for citizens and tourists. The proximity to Corso Como and the Isola district put it in a strategic position for nightlife.
- Brera Design District
Brera is the artistic district bordering the center of Milan, developed from the 800 around the famous Pinacoteca opened by the statue of Napoleon Bonaparte in the guise of Mars emperor of the world. You can get there preferably from Via Verdi coming from Piazza della Scala. You will find pavé alleys, unique boutiques and historic shops and above all the creative ecosystem of the Pinacoteca di Brera which houses unique masterpieces of art in the world as the dead Christ of Mantegna, Hayez’s Kiss, Caravaggio’s Dinner in Emmaus and Raphael’s The Marriage of the Virgin. Interesting and characteristic are the squares and alleys with cafes and dehors, Brera is a place to live the city on foot, Discover immortal works of art and get perfect panoramas for suggestive photos. In Via San Marco there are ultramodern shops of shoes and design objects.
- Sempione Park - Triennale - Torre Branca
When you think of the Parco Sempione you think of the nineteenth century and Napoleon, yet this fresh garden in the center of Milan, which unites the perspective axis Castello Sforzesco-Arco della Pace with the softness of the side gardens, is a mine of twentieth-century architecture.
The two most monumental are of course the Palazzo dell'Arte by Giovanni Muzio, better known as the Triennale, and the nearby Torre Branca, by Giò Ponti, both dating back to the early '30s and among the best examples of rationalist architecture. A few meters away, towards Piazza Cadorna, there is the Casa al Parco by Ignazio Gardella from 1947-1950, overlooking the park, The jewel of the first post-war period. On the opposite side of the Castle stands the small deco building of the Civic Aquarium, one of the oldest in Europe, and a few steps outside the park, towards Brera, the Strehler Small Theatre. Hidden in the heart of the park, finally, worth a visit the Sempione Park Library, work of Ico Parisi of the fifties, and two monuments-public spaces: the "Musical accumulation and sitting" of Arman of 73, a semi-circular concrete staircase in which the artist has sunk chairs and musical instruments, and the "Teatro continuo" of Burri, recently rebuilt.
- Island District
Isola is famous for the many places to eat or have an aperitif, but above all we recommend Tàscaro: a quiet bistro with specialties, cicchetti and aperitifs in Venetian style. The island of memory and miracles: a few steps from Ratanà is the House of Memory, a cultural center and exhibition dedicated to the memory of the events of the Second World War. It offers events, hosts an archive, a reading room and a study room.
Another interesting stop, in contrast with the modernity of Isola, is the church of Santa Maria alla Fontana with frescoes and legends related to the miraculous water of the various fountains still active. The shops to discover: Isola is a neighborhood where you live well and do not miss anything: from the tailor to the electrician, passing by the home store or the hardware.
A round of clubs: the Café Gorille is open from morning until late evening with cafeteria and cocktails, perfect for an aperitif. For a beer we recommend BeerShow, for an after-dinner, Barba. In Isola, the bread is from Tondo, artisan oven.
HOW TO GET AROUND:
From Kiss-Suite Klimt you can take the metro line MM2 to reach all the railway stations (Cadorna, Garibaldi, Centrale, Porta Genova, Lambrate) or take buses (43, 94, 57) to the other areas of Milan or move easily on foot to Piazza Duomo, Gae Aulenti, Sempione Park, ADI Museum, Chinatown, Brera, the fashion district, the Triennale Museum and the Torre Branca.
A few minutes walk from the Fatebenefratelli hospital, the Isola district and with a few metro stops, you are on the Navigli at Porta Genova.
